Baby Pottying Products
When people first discover baby pottying or elimination communication (EC), one of the most common questions is:
"What do I actually need?"
The good news is that baby pottying doesn't require lots of specialist equipment. Many families start with little more than a potty, a willingness to observe their baby and a sense of curiosity.
That said, there are a handful of products that can make elimination communication easier, more convenient and more enjoyable.
The recommendations on this page are products that I genuinely use, recommend or regularly hear positive feedback about from families in our community. Some support baby pottying directly, while others help make everyday life with EC more practical.

Folds and tucks away under the pram. You can use it anywhere, and folds out to become a seat reducer on a normal toilet.
Little Lovebum

Beautiful designs, and super practical for EC. I use their nappy wraps, boosters and Grow-with-me mats.

These are the smallest training pants I’ve found. I use size 2T for my 9-month-old.
Useful for being able to see right away when they are wet.
Baby Pottying Essentials: What Do You Really Need?
If you're just getting started with elimination communication, it can feel overwhelming trying to work out which products are useful and which aren't.
In reality, most families only need a few simple baby pottying essentials:
A Suitable Potty
A small potty allows you to offer your baby regular opportunities to wee or poo outside of a nappy. Many parents choose a tophat potty for babies under 6 months and a small floor potty for babies who are able to sit independently. A travel potty is also handy when you’re out and about. Check out my potty guide here.
Back-Up Nappies
Most families continue using nappies while practising elimination communication. Whether you choose cloth nappies, disposable nappies or a combination of both, EC doesn't have to be all-or-nothing.
Training Pants
Training pants can be particularly useful for older babies and toddlers. They allow children to feel wetness more easily than a disposable nappy while still providing protection for small accidents.
Practical Clothing
Simple clothing that is easy to remove quickly can make baby pottying much easier, particularly when you're out and about.
